‘General Hospital’ Chris McKenna Reveals What’s Next After Shocking Exit!
The former Jack Brennan actor has several projects underway following his departure from the ABC soap.
General Hospital (GH) fans were furious when they heard that Chris McKenna, who played the role of Jack Brennan on the ABC show, was exiting. While fans simmer over it, he’s looking at other work. Read on to find out what irons he has in the fire.
Dealing With the Exit
In an exclusive interview with TV Insider, McKenna discussed Brennan’s death and his own exit from the soap.
It was a lengthy interiew, but he did say that he’s used to it because, “This is the third soap that has either written me off or killed me off.”
McKenna has had time to consider his future since filming his final General Hospital episode in June.
What’s Next For Chris?
Talking about the future, fan-favorite Chris McKenna told the outlet that he’s got “a few things in the works.” GH fans already know that he runs teaching classes for actors, and he will continue doing that.
But apart from that, he also talked about a script that he sold. That happened before he replaced Charles Mesure as Brennan, the head of the WSB in Port Charles.
He explained, “Now I get to go back to that project, which I’ve been really looking forward to doing for a long time.”
Movie Adaptations
Interestingly, McKenna also revealed that he holds the rights to the work of late American horror writer Thomas Tessier and hopes to bring more of it to the screen.
“I think it’s been criminally under-adapted,” he noted, adding that interest from producers has picked up.
McKenna said that he has been taking meetings, about the Thomas Tessier catalogue, including some in Sweden.
He has some connection to Sweden and General Hospital fans know from his social media posts that McKenna lives with his Swedish wife, Lovisa Jansson, and their son, Spencer.
Soap Opera Digest reminded fans that McKenna and Lovisa eloped during the pandemic and announced their marriage in 2022.
The Exit
Brennan’s run came to a shocking end during the September 1 episode when he was found dead in the Metro Court pool. Since then, Celeb Dirty Laundry dropped spoilers about the aftermath on GH.
The outlet noted that “Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) will show Ava Jerome (Maura West) what he feels is the perfect burial ground for Jack Brennan.”
The September 2 spoilers also suggest that Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) will ponder over the disturbances in Brennan’s room and going forward they’ll try and work out who had been there before them.
As for McKenna, he has moved on and appears to have plenty of potential projects ahead.
